Comparison of nurses’ and instructors’ views about continuum of patients rights in Rasht city Hospitals

Abstract

Introduction: In health systems patients as the main consumers of health serviccs have specific rights which all health care providers have responsibility for its maintenance. This research was carried out to compare the nurses and nurse Instructors Point of views regarding Patients Bill of right.

Material and Methods: This research was a comparative - descriptive study. The sample consisted of nurses in all hospitals in Rasht and in nursing and midwifery faculties in Rasht. Data was collected by self report and questionnaire about sociodemographic characteristic and Bill of Right based on likert scale. Reliability and validity of questionnaire were obtained using cronbakh’s alpha coefficient and content validity. Data then analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic.

Results: 54.7% of nurses believed that Patients Bill of Right is conducted, however 57.6% of instructors didn’t believed that Patients Bill of Right is conducted. There was a significant difference by using t - independent (p<0.009) registered nurse and nurse instructors in this study.

Conclusion: Respect to Bill of Right must be included in nursing education programs.
