The relationship between religious coping and quality of life in infertile couples

Introduction: Religious coping, contributed to the quality of life of individuals. The aim of this study was the relation between religious coping styles of each of the parties of the infertile couple to each other’s quality of life.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was among 200 couples who referred to the infertility center of the Qom University of medical sciences. The data collection tool was demographics questionnaire, general quality of life questionnaire (SF-36) and questionnaire of the religious coping styles Pargament (R-Cope). Significance level was considered at 0.05.

Results: Results: Compare each dimension of quality of life questionnaire showed that in all aspects except for the mental health the women is significantly lower than their wives. Among the aspects of religious coping styles just the after positive coping style between two groups was significant. Univariate analysis showed that the positive and negative coping style of the women is significantly associated with their quality of life. Negative coping styles of men and women were also significantly associated with quality of life of men. The results of multivariate analysis showed that negative coping style of the women was significantly related to their quality of life.  While there is an inverse relationship between the quality of life’s men and the positive coping style of the women.

Conclusion: Regarding the results of the present study education and improving positive religious coping strategies was offered to improve the quality of life.
