Introduction: The incidence of chronic kidney disease is increasing due to increase in aging population, and higher incidence of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease in the world. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of old people undergoing hemodialysis.

Nine elderly people (6 men & 3 women) undergoing hemodialysis was recruited based on purposive sampling and interviewed by depth and unstructured questions. Data were analyzed by Van- Manen methodology.
Results: Seven main themes and eighteen sub-themes emerged depicting the meaning of living with hemodialysis in the elderly. The main themes were “hemodialysis as life savior”, “problematic life with hemodialysis”, “contradictory feelings”, “faith in God”, “uncertainty”, “dependence”, “social support”.
