The study of the relationship between demographic characteristics and spiritual well-being among adolescent students

Introduction: Considering that spiritual dimension and spiritual well-being are closely related to the dimensions of mental, physical and social health of each person, attention to it is important in health promotion. Family is one of the most important factors affecting the spiritual health of adolescents.
Method: The present study is a descriptive-analytic study. The study population included 125 high school students from two area of  Isfahan who were selected by multi-stage random sampling method. This study was conducted in the academic year  2015-2016.The data gathering tool was a two-part questionnaire, the first part containing demographic information and family characteristics that were prepared using the  literature review and the second part was  Palutzian Elison's spiritual wellbeing. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and analyzed by using of  SPSS 18 software.
Results: The findings of this study showed that the mean score of total spiritual health in the students was (95.5%) and in the religious health (49.99%) and existential  health (44.96%). In general, students' spiritual well-being was moderate. The total score of spiritual well-being and the score of the existential health of students were directly related to their average score (P <0.05) but there was no significant relationship with their age and number of children (P> 0.05). The religious health scores of students were inversely related to their age (P <0.05), but their mean score and the number of children in the family did not have a significant relationship (P> 0.05).In  The overall score of spiritual health and religious  and existential health There was no significant relationship between with educational background and the birth rank of the students and age, and the level of education and work of  their mothers and fathers (P> 0.05).
Conclusion: Considering that spiritual health is an important aspect of the health of adolescent girls and the role of family in adolescents health is crucial, adolescence as an infrastructure for community health, conducting further studies and providing appropriate services in the field of spiritual well-being Adolescents and their families by school nurse  should pay attention to the health services of schools .
