A Survey about the relationship between social capital and sport's activities in participation

Introduction: Nurses are large portion of the practitioners in the field of health in society and attention to their personal health is an important issue that must be considered. One appropriate means to access individual health nurses is participation in sport activities that increase participation is requires understanding of factors affect. The purpose this studies was to reviews the role of social capital on nurses' participation in sport activities. Methods: This was a survey & cross sectional study that carried out to assess the relation between social capital and sports activities in participation in nurses drawn from hospitals affiliated to state of Yazd city. The study sample includes 144 nurses, which selected via cluster and then randomly sampling. A structured questionnaire of social capital was used to data collection. Reliability of questionnaire was determined by alpha-cronbach correlation method (=0.78). All statistics were computed using SPSS software (version 11.5) with Pearson, t-test and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Showed that relation between social capital and nurses participation in sport activities was statistical meaningful (P=0.041). Also, the hierarchical multiple regression analysis results shown that variable enjoyment of exercise, weight loss and skill to perform the sporting movements in the first place and social capital in the second place explained 14.4 and 4.9 percent of variance under variable nurses participation in sport activities respectively. Conclusion: Pearson correlation test showed that between social capital and the rate of nurses participation in sporting activities there is a significant relationship. But social capital unable to explain many parts of the variance is not a variable under study. While other the phsio-psycho-social variables to be able to explain a larger part of the variance under study have been variable. Therefore, in this area should review other variables are influential.
