A Comparative analysis of Parenting Styles between Female Nurses and office staff in the Selected Hospital under the Supervision of Esfahan University of Medical Sciences.

Introduction: the kind of mothers` occupation is one of the factors which have a great effect on their parenting style. The objective of the present study is having comparative analysis of parenting styles between female nurses and female office staff in the selected hospital under the supervision of Esfahan University of medical sciences on2014. Research` method: the method of this survey is comparative and explanatory analysis of sectional kind which analyzed 202 of female nurses and the Female office staff and having children with the age range of 1 to 11. They were selected by the simple` sampling. Data` collection has been done by the means of the questionnaire of demographic`s features and Baumrind` s parenting style questionnaire. The information has been analyzed based on statistical explanatory and inferential methods and also by the use of the software of SPSS of 20 versions. Founding: this survey`s findings have shown that the average` score of, authoritative, authoritarian , and permissive styles of female nurse was 33.4±4.02, 16.1±6.5, 19.4±7.1 respectively and in the female office staff was 31.4±4.3, 17.5±5.3, 17.4±7.8. The score of the female nurse in two styles of authoritative and permissive was significantly more than the female office staff . There was not any significant difference between the two groups in terms of the authoritarian -style score. Discussion and conclusion: in spite of the fact that the score of the female nurses was more than females staff in permissive style, here the occupation`s features include: irregular work hours and the stressful nature of this job, but it is reported that the score of the female nurse in authoritative-style was more than the score of the female office staff indicating the better, efficient, and correct awareness of Parenting style in this style. In order to improve and inform the rules and condition of nurses, teaching the ways of parenting style to the both groups by related authority is a necessity.
