Comparison of the Effectiveness of Metacognitive Therapy and Positive Therapy on Emotional Regulation of patients with Chronic Hypertension

Introduction : Blood pressure is one of the chronic medical diseases in which regulation of emotions is effective, so the present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy and positive therapy on emotional regulation of patients with chronic hypertension.
Method: The research method was a semi-experimental pre-test, post-test and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all people with high blood pressure who referred to the specialized and subspecialized center of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran in 2021. 45 qualified people who volunteered to participate in the research were selected by available sampling method and They were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The data collection tool was Garnevsky et al.'s (2001) emotion regulation questionnaire. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using SPSS version 22 and the statistical method of multivariate analysis of covariance.
Results The results showed that there was no significant difference between the intervention and control groups; And metacognitive and positive treatment was effective in improving the emotional regulation of patients with chronic hypertension (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Therapists should use metacognitive therapy and positive therapy as a practical and effective treatment method to improve emotional regulation and prevent relapse in patients with chronic hypertension.
