Abstract
Background and purpose: The Covid 19 pandemic has placed a heavy responsibility on the health care system and has caused psychological problems among all medical personnel, especially nurses who have the most contact with these patients. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between stress, anxiety, depression and resilience of nurses during the outbreak of the covid-19 disease in teaching hospitals in Halle, Iraq.
Research method: The present research is cross-sectional and of descriptive and analytical type and was conducted in nineteen departments of three teaching hospitals in Halle in Iraq. In this research, the samples were 350 nurses and they were selected randomly. Data from April to September 1401 and with the tool of demographic questionnaire; 42 DASS scale and 25 CD-RISK scale were collected. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.
Findings: The findings of the research indicate a high level of anxiety, a moderate level of stress and depression, and high resilience. There was a significant negative correlation between resilience and depression (P-value 0.007). Also, there was no significant relationship between resilience and stress and anxiety.
Conclusion: The level of stress, anxiety and especially depression among working nurses during the covid era was moderately high. Also, the level of resilience during this epidemic was high among nurses who worked in the wards of Covid-19. Mental health problems such as high stress and anxiety and depression have a significant impact on nursing care. Nurses who have high resilience have inner strengths that make them resistant in dealing with difficult situations and crises such as Covid.
