The experimental group received acceptance and commitment therapy in eight 90-minute sessions, but the control group received routine therapy. The data collection tools included Bradbent et al.'s (2006) and Weinberger's (1991) adaptation questionnaires. In order to analyze the data, SPSS version 22 software and variance analysis test with repeated measurement between groups were used.
Findings: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the groups in the post-test and follow-up of disease perception and psychological adaptation in coronary heart patients, and the acceptance and commitment program on improving disease perception and psychological adaptation had a lasting effect in the follow-up period (P<0.05). .
Conclusion: The results showed that acceptance and commitment therapy was effective in improving disease perception and psychological adaptation of coronary heart patients. Therefore, health care providers in the field of treatment and counseling of patients with coronary heart disease can use acceptance and commitment therapy as a complementary treatment and an efficient treatment method in improving disease perception and psychological adaptation of coronary heart patients.
