Introduction: Continuous stress and anxiety during pregnancy and lack of it control is a threat to the physical and mental health of mother and infant. Methods of reducing the anxiety of pregnant women have an effective role in reducing the psychological problems of the mother and her Newborn. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of face-to-face training and watching film on reducing anxiety in Liberian mothers. Methods: The research method was experimental and the research design was pre-test and post-test with control group. All pregnant mothers with 32-34 weeks gestation who was referred to Zabol health centers in the first half of 2019 and met the inclusion criteria, were studied. Sixty primiparous women were randomly divided into 3 groups of 20 individuals, namely the film group in two sessions of film and the face-to-face training group in 4 training sessions and the routine care control group. Collecting tools included 14-item Hamilton anxiety rating scale and demographic information questionnaire. After the pre-test, educational intervention and film on two intervention groups were performed. After face to face training and film in two intervention groups, the test was performed. Data analysis by using SPSS software and one-way ANOVA, covariance analysis and paired t-test was performed. P value was less than 0.05. Results: the anxiety means scale in all three groups was not significantly different at the beginning of the study (P = 0.918); But after the intervention, the mean score of anxiety in the face-to-face and film group was significantly lower than the control group (P <0.001). Also, the anxiety scale in the groups receiving face-to-face training and film at the end of the study was significantly lower than the beginning of the study (P <0.001), but this change was not significantly significant in the control group (P=0.083). Conclusion: Considering the effectiveness of face-to-face training and watching film on reducing maternal anxiety in labor and increasing maternal satisfaction And one can choose one of the educational methods according to the conditions. In addition, the results of this study were used to reduce anxiety and prevent problems and complications of childbirth in mother and infant and can be used to plan appropriate treatment, promote mental health services and create related policies in the community.
