Background : Correctly performing physical examinations in patient’s leads to correct nursing diagnosis and speeding up recovery and finally improving the health level of the patient and family. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the knowledge-skills and importance of physical examinations in nurses working in South Khorasan hospitals. Methods:In this descriptive correlational study, 253nurses employed in the medical, surgical, ICU and CCU wards of hospitals affiliated to Birjand University of medical sciences, were chosen conveniently in 2020. The data collecting instrument included demographic data, knowledge-skill and the importance of physical assessment items. Data were analyzed by the SPSS software version 25 using correlation coefficient test and linear regression. Results: The findings of the study showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the two variables of knowledge-skills and importance. There is a significant relationship between the education of nurses and the department where nurses work with knowledge and skills. Also, there is a significant relationship between the age, work experience, and department of the nurses with the importance of physical examinations. Conclusion: There was a positive and significant relationship between the two variables of knowledge-skills and the importance of physical examinations, so the increase in nurses' knowledge-skills in physical examinations shows the importance of those examinations.
