Abstract:   (20 Views)
Introduction : Due to the structure of universities and their lack of connection with industry and society, many students are not able to make decisions about their future careers related to their field of study, therefore, the concept of self-efficacy at the level of University and specialized courses of students should be given special attention. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the causal relationship between personality traits and career decision-making self-efficacy with the mediating role of anxiety sensitivity in clinical psychology master's students of Islamic Azad University, Tabriz and Zanjan branches.
Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational and the statistical population included nursing and medical students of Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Medical Sciences Branch, who were studying in the first semester of the academic year 1404-1405. Among them, 235 people were selected as a sample using stratified random sampling with proportional allocation. The research tools were the NEO Personality Traits Questionnaire (NEO), the Betz and Taylor Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, and the Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire (ASI). The resulting data were analyzed using SPSS 26 and Smart PLS 3 software and structural equation modeling with partial least squares.
Results: The results showed that the personality traits of extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism have a significant effect on the self-efficacy of career decision-making with the mediating role of anxiety sensitivity (p<0.01). But the effect of openness to experience on career decision-making self-efficacy with the mediating role of anxiety sensitivity is not significant (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The results of the present study show that personality traits have an effect on the self-efficacy of career decision-making through the mediation of anxiety sensitivity.
Keywords: anxiety sensitivity, self-efficacy of career decision making, personality traits.
