The data were collected by questionnaires of Beck and Clarck depression and Snyder and et al hope and analyzed by methods of chi-square, one way ANOVA analysis, multivariate analysis of covariance and Bonferroni post hoc test in SPSS software version 19. Results: The results showed that the groups did not significantly different in terms of gender, marriage, education, age and duration of illness (P>0.05). Also, mindfulness and psychological well-being education in comparison with the control group led to significantly decreased depression and significantly increased hope in patients with type 2 diabetes (P<0.001), but between the two methods of mindfulness and psychological well-being education in their decreasing depression and increasing hope there was no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study indicated the effectiveness of both methods on reducing depression and increasing hope and no difference between the two methods. Therefore, therapists and health experts can be used from mindfulness and psychological well-being education methods to improve the health-related characteristics of patients with type 2 diabetes, especially to decrease depression and increase hope.
