Investigating the cybernetic status and its relationship with knowledge management from the perspective of the staff of Tehran School of Nursing and Midwifery

Introduction: Knowledge is an essential element of an organization to achieve competitive advantage and maximum results. At present, the implementation of knowledge management in the field of medicine and public health management to establish a research-based health center is a very important issue. In this regard, cybernetic management seeks to eliminate traditional and inefficient structures and facilitate communication between departments and sub-systems within the organization. Cybernetic management means efficient and organized knowledge. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the cybernetic status and its relationship with knowledge management in the staff of Tehran School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Method: The present study is descriptive cross-sectional and is a correlational study. The statistical population of this study includes all staff and faculty members of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Data collection tool was a three-part questionnaire including personal information, cybernetic questionnaire and knowledge management questionnaire that was completed by self-report method. Research data were analyzed using SPSS software version 25.
Findings: Findings showed that the mean and standard deviation of cybernetic scores of the studied units were 75.4 ± 12.3 in the desired range and also the mean and standard deviation of knowledge management scores of the research units was 63.3±10.2 which shows the average knowledge management. It has been above average. Also, the results showed that there is a significant direct relationship between knowledge management and dimensions of participatory decision making, flat structure, correct information flow, fair payment and cybernetic online education (P <0.05) and with organizational commitment and sense development. There is no significant relationship between ownership.
Conclusion: Findings of the present study showed that knowledge management is at a desirable level and also cybernetics is at a moderate level in employees. Therefore, there is a need for coherent planning to improve the cybernetic situation in organizations in order to take advantage of knowledge management.
