Introduction:Ethical sensitivity is the first step in the ethical decision-making process that provides the ability to deal with ethical conflicts by knowing the roles and responsibilities of nurses in clinical situations. The presence of sensitivity of professional ethics in nursing leads to increased trust and satisfaction of patients with the quality of nurse care and improvement of communication between nurse and patient. This research was conducted with the aim of comparing the effect of situation simulation and rethinking on the moral sensitivity of nursing students of Islamic Azad University of Golestan province. Methods: This research was an experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group, which was conducted on 75 nursing students of Golestan Azad University in 2023. First, three faculties from different regions of Golestan province were selected by lottery. In order to randomize, by using sealed letters in which (X situation simulation group), (Y rethinking group) and (O control group) were written, they were replaced in the situation simulation (Aliabadketoul unit), rethinking (Gonbadkavos unit) and control (Azadshahr unit) groups. Then, the research units were selected from the students who were eligible for sampling using the available method. In the intervention groups, seven 30-minute sessions of the situation simulation and rethinking program were implemented. No intervention was performed in the control group. Lutzen et al.'s (1994) moral sensitivity questionnaire was completed before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 24 software and statistical tests at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: The average moral sensitivity scores before the intervention in the situation simulation group was 61.96±9.24, the rethinking group was 49.72±18.64 and the control group was 59.56±12.32, and after the intervention it was 80.84±9.78, 56.36±1.17 and 59.7±29.63 and a significant difference was observed between the three groups (P<0.01). The covariance test by removing the effect of the pre-test showed a significant difference between the test and control groups (P<0.01), so that the post-test changes in relation to moral sensitivity with the intervention of situation simulation training (47%) and rethinking (72%) was related. Conclusions: The results of the present study showed that teaching by the method of situation simulation and rethinking can be effective in improving the moral sensitivity of nursing students. Therefore, the use of different educational methods in order to improve moral values and moral sensitivity of nurses and nursing students is recommended to managers, planners and nursing trainers.
