Background: Moral sensitivity is one of the essential elements for adhering to moral principles in nursing care. However, due to certain barriers, nurses sometimes lack sufficient moral sensitivity, leading to confusion and occasional neglect in addressing moral issues in patient care, which may result in missed nursing care. Missed nursing care refers to care that is omitted or delayed, affecting the quality and safety of care. Method: In this descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study, 217 nurses were selected using cluster sampling from private and public hospitals in Tehran in 2024. Data were collected using the Missed Nursing Care Questionnaire and the Nurses' Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 22, Spearman's correlation coefficient, and T-test at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The mean score of moral sensitivity among clinical nurses was 59.93 +_ 10.28, indicating a moderate level of moral sensitivity. The highest moral sensitivity score was in the dimension of awareness of how to communicate with patients, and the lowest was in the dimension of professional knowledge. The mean missed nursing care score was 37.15 +_10.66. This mean score of 37.15 on a scale ranging from 24 to 96 indicates a relatively low level of missed nursing care. The highest mean score for missed nursing care was related to attending scientific conferences (mean = 2.03) and supervising the preparation of food for patients who can eat by themselves (mean = 1.86). The lowest mean score for missed nursing care was related to blood glucose monitoring with a glucometer (mean = 1.21) and complete documentation of essential patient information (mean = 1.3). The results showed a significant and inverse relationship between moral sensitivity and missed nursing care (p-value < 0.001, r = -0.248). Conclusion: Although nurses have acceptable levels of moral sensitivity, this level of sensitivity is not sufficient for providing complete patient care, as there are still instances of missed nursing care. Therefore, further enhancement of moral sensitivity among nurses should be a priority in the nursing system.
